Patricia Setlock sent me this photo of her mandala quilt. It makes me think of blackbirds flying!

This beautiful spiral mandala quilt is by Tracey Lawko, a student who took my class in Ontario, Canada in October 2012. Isn’t it beautiful? Of all the mandalas I’ve seen from my students, this is one of the best quilting designs I’ve seen — Tracy used the background space really well, even including motifs from the mandala in the design. I particularly like the ropes in the border.
Tracy plans to enter it in shows. I’m certain it will be juried in and will be a strong prize contender. Whether or not it takes home any ribbons, in my opinion this quilt is definitely a winner!

Pam Burke, one of my students at my first workshop at Empty Spools Seminars (April 2013) brought not one but TWO finished spiral mandalas to show me at Empty Spools while I was teaching there in 2014. The one with the pointed corners is called “Pinata” – don’t you love the tassles!

It’s Day 3 of my Spiral Mandalas workshop here at Empty Spools Seminars in beautiful Pacific Grove, CA at the Asilomar Conference Center. Everyone has sewn at least the center spiral of their mandala at this point, and Jesse has already finished an entire wedge! check out their progress . . .

Great class here in Knoxville yesterday and today. Everyone got at least the first spiral of the mandala finished. Laura Ziock used P&B’s new digitally printed fabric collection, Xanadu.

I received another photo of a mandala from a student — here is Linda Upp’s Late Bloomers. I get to see it this week in Columbus, OH at the National Quilting Association show. Come by! And if you still are thinking about registering for the class (or one of my other two spirals classes) – do it now!
